5 Ways To Become More Business Savvy This Week In The Hudson Valley

On Tuesday, the Dutchess County One Stop Career Center in partnership with the Poughkeepsie Public Library hosts a free resume critique workshop. This workshop is free and open to the public and gives the community a chance to boost their resume with professional feedback. Drop-ins are more than welcome, with no registration requirement, but the library does ask that you call (845-485-3445) the day of the workshop to schedule a session along with bringing a printed copy of your resume. The workshop starts at 6 p.m. sharp at the Adriance Memorial Library on Market Street in Poughkeepsie.
Going down on Wednesday, the Good Work Institute is having an open house in Poughkeepsie. This early morning event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at the Poughkeepsie Underwear Factory. Come learn about the Good Work Fellowship Program, which helps entrepreneurs and community leaders. This info session will have a short presentation followed by a Q&A from active fellows. On Thursday, there are several events taking place that are sure to boost your business skills. First, New York State Department of Labor has organized a recruiting event at the Dutchess One Stop Career Center on Main Street in Poughkeepsie kicking off at 10 a.m. For information and tickets head to labor.ny.gov. Also happening the same day, the Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC) is holding a Path To Entrepreneurship Program. This event kicks off at 6 p.m. at the Think Dutchess Alliance for Business on Neptune Road in Poughkeepsie. This info session is designed to educate the community on small business ownership and the characteristics that are a necessity to be a successful entrepreneur. Lastly, Marist College along with Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce is presenting a CEO chat with Wayne Nussbickel of N&S Supply of Fishkill. N&S Supply is a local provider of plumbing and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) products. This informal event is more like a conversation between community leaders and the public when it comes to business insight. The event begins at 5 p.m. on the campus of Marist College.
