From 'Girls' to 'Peter Pan'!

Allison Williams has been cast as the titular character in NBC's musical 'Peter Pan Live!,' the network announced today (July 30), via Twitter:

“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” Williams said (quotes via the Hollywood Reporter). "It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"

While Williams, who has been playing Marnie on 'Girls' since 2012, may seem like a surprising choice for the role, 'Girls' fans are familiar with her voice. Marnie's attempt at a singing career has been highlighted on the show, and Williams even recorded some tracks for the 'Girls' soundtrack. Of course, if Williams has also inherited any of her dad's pseudo-rapping skills, we're all for it.

While we're still a tiny bit bummed that Miley Cyrus didn't land the role, we're psyched to see what Allison Williams will do with it. And we can't wait for her to fight against Christopher Walken, who has been cast in the role of Captain Hook.

'Peter Pan Live!' will air on NBC on December 4. PopCrushers, will you tune in?
