Another Hudson Valley Chain Store Announces Closing
Another chain store in the Hudson Valley will close its doors.
On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that the Sears department store located in the Hudson Valley Mall would close in April.
According to the article in the Daily Freeman, Sears Holdings Corporation will close another 100 Sears and K-mart stores as part of another cost-cutting measure. Some 39 Sears stores and 64 K-Mart stores will close and liquidation sales begin next Friday. They closed 250 stores last year in 2017.
The Sears store at the Hudson Valley Mall will first close the auto repair center in late February, then the rest of the store in April. Employees were notified of the closing on Thursday too, but it wasn’t clear how many local Sears employees will lose their jobs.
The store first opened in the mall in 1989 and was located in the Kingston Plaza before that for over 25 years. Before that, the store was on Wall Street in Uptown Kingston.
