City of Poughkeepsie Firefighters Receive Medals
The City of Poughkeepsie honored several firefighters on Thursday, for their heroic actions in recent fires. The special ceremony was centered around two fires. According to an article in the Poughkeepsie Journal, a June fire at 99 Hooker Avenue and an April 9 fire at 21 Stout Court both in the city of Poughkeepsie.
Honored was Stephan Bauer, he earned the fire department’s “Medal of Honor.” He pulled a woman out of the fire in June, burning his own hands in the process.
Also honored was Timothy Flynn and Paul Bucher, they earned the “Life Saving Medal,” for their efforts in the June fire. Flynn wasn’t in attendance but he is still recovering from injuries sustained in that fire.
The department also awarded freighters Michael Camuto, Timothy Rose and Timothy Ryan. They received the “Life Saving Medal,” award for pulling victims out of the April fire.
Unit citations were awarded to firefighter groups two and four, for their work at these fires. City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison was in attendance.
