With prom season happening in the Hudson Valley and throughout schools in the United States guys at a high school on the west coast has an unusual way of trying to choose a date for the big night.

A group of juniors and senior boys at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, CA., have been admonished  for hosting a "prom draft" and then putting the results up on social media.  Basically, it’s exactly what it sounds like: an NFL-style “draft” for high school boys to select their female dates, many of whom are ranked solely based on their appearance.

According to the online newspaper The Daily Dot  the draft has been going on in the area for years, recently catching the attention of school administrators when some of the first-round “draft results” were posted on Twitter, along with photos of girls with their names on the back of their jerseys.

As expected, some female high school students had objections  voicing their objections to this draft, Corona Del Mar principal Kathy Scott did send an email to parents condemning the draft.  Just do it the old fashioned way, get the nerves up and ask someone out who you think is a very special person and just have a great time, and don't drink and drive!
