WOODSTOCK SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL PRESENTS TWELFTH NIGHT, JULY 25-AUGUST 31
Woodstock Shakespeare Festival’s 19th summer season opens July 25 with one of the bard’s most hilarious comedies. Twelfth Night, performed by Bird-On-A-Cliff Theatre Company on Woodstock’s outdoor Elizabethan stage, will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through August 31. Show time is 5 p.m., admission is free (donations gladly accepted), and all are welcome. Folding chairs or blankets are suggested.
Nicola Sheara directs an experienced cast, including Michael DaTorre, David Aston-Reese, Chris Bailey and others, many of whom have performed in previous Woodstock Shakespeare Festival productions.
Bird-On-A-Cliff Theatre Company (BOAC) originated and has run the Woodstock Shakespeare Festival annually since 1995. According to Elli Michaels and David Aston-Reese, the company’s co-founders and artistic co-directors, the Woodstock Shakespeare Festival charges no admission fee “so that BOAC productions can be accessible to all.”
The outdoor theatre is located at 45 Comeau Drive in Woodstock. Created by Broadway designer Salvatore Tagliarino, the stage was built in 1996, with approval by the Woodstock Town Board, and rebuilt in 2005, with aid of a matching grant from the Catskill Watershed Corporation.
