Shark Week Fake-u-mentary: Seagull Attacked in Poughkeepsie?
There was no sharknado in Poughkeepsie, but in honor of Shark Week, Mix 97’s Mark Bolger reports on a “shark sighting” off the Hudson. No, there aren’t really sharks this far up the Hudson River, but a fella can dream, can’t he?
There has been what seems to be a shark sighting and attack on a seagull in the Hudson. I received a call from a friend of mine who was at the River Station restaurant yesterday and he said that people were coming into the bar saying they saw a shark about thirty feet off the shoreline of Waryas Park.
I rushed down to see if anyone would talk to me about it. Here is my report.
The Hudson is known to have large sturgeon in it and maybe it was mistaken for a shark. Sturgeon don’t breach, nor do they normally attack gulls floating on the surface. It is possible that this was a Bull shark that made it’s way up river. If that is the case there may be plenty more. We will keep you posted.
