Yes—in fact, the man who penned the lyrics for our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner” (set to the tune of an old English pub song) was “unmusical … and possibly tone deaf,”  according to Marc Leepson in his new Key biography, What So Proudly We Hailed (Macmillan).



Maybe if Key had been in a boy band, he was certainly cute enough or at least used a pub song in a key with attainable notes he might have done more with his musical career!
