Starting next week Gymboree stores will start they closing sales. Gymboree, the children’s clothing retailer had filed for bankruptcy protection in June and has finally settled with creditors. As part of the agreements, they will close 350 stores across the United States.

The Gymboree Corporation, includes Janie and Jack, Crazy 8 stores and Gymboree. Gymboree joins stores like Payless and RadioShack who have closed this year after filing bankruptcy. The company operates about 1280 locations, and most of the stores will be Gymboree and Crazy 8.

Locally, in the Hudson Valley, all of the Crazy 8 stores will be closing. Locations include the Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown and the Palisades Center in West Nyack. The only Gymboree location in the Hudson Valley, happens to be at Woodbury Commons. This location isn’t on the closing list. We can speculate as to why the store might remain open. Could it because it’s an outlet, instead of regular store? Does that particular location have enough foot traffic to make it profile able?
