Jam the Van Collects Over $11K for Food Bank
This past weekend, the annual Jam the Van food drive was held at local Shop Rite stores in the Hudson Valley.
This was the seventh annual food drive that directly benefits The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. For four days, we collected non-perishable food items and cash at five different Shop Rite stores: the Route 9 locations in Poughkeepsie and Fishkill, the Shop Rite in Kingston and the one in New Paltz. Also, the Shop Rite on Route 82 in Lagrangeville.
We were able to fill one and half tractor trailer trucks with food to send to the Food Bank. Once the trucks get delivered, we will find out how many pounds of food was collected.
Last year we collected over $13,000 in donations during the food drive. This year, we collected $11,241.21 in donations. That money will enable the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley to purchase specific food items that are needed this year.
