Most people are familiar with the popular TV show, Lip Sync Battle featuring LL Cool J.  Have you heard of Lip Sync Wars?  The 2017 Ulster County Lip Sync Wars, is set for Thursday night, October 12, at The Chateau in Kingston.  Lip Sync Wars is a fundraiser for The People’s Place and the Center for Creative Education.  Christine Hein, executive director for the People’s Place, talked with the Daily Freeman, about how both agencies serve similar populations, both agencies had the same idea for a fundraising event.

Who is performing at Lip Sync Wars?  Kingston City Mayor Nobel and his wife, along with Kingston Police Chief Tinit and his wife.  Also, Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum.

The goal of the event is about $20,000.   They will help over the cost of the food pantry and 17 other programs provided at the People’s Place.  Hein said that federal funding could be cut to programs serving their population, so they are preparing to the increase in demand of the agencies services. Tickets for the event can be found on their website and are only $50 or $60 at the door.
