Police in Italy have shut down a mozzarella factory and arrested 13 people after finding that prized local buffalo milk was being made with cheaper imported cow milk instead.

According to the Associated Press a southern town in Caserta, in Italy, was producing cheese that contained as much as 20 times permissible levels of bacteria.

The Polizia (police in Italian) also shut down a couple of weeks ago, seven stores selling the cheese in the Naples area.  The investigation began when one of its workers lost some fingers because of safety flaws at the plant.  Just watch out the next time your order mozzarella sticks at a restaurant, it could be that guy's fingers inside
