So, Friday is finally here, but you’re not sure what to do this weekend. Don’t worry cause the MixPicks For Your Weekend are here. So, whether you want to stay in town or travel for some fun, Mix has got it done! Oh and, this weekend, we promise, it is going to be a hot one.
Happening: Fishkill Farms, 9 Fishkill Farm Rd, Hopewell Junction
Location: Saturday, August 12, 10 AM – 4 PM
It may be August but there’s no reason to let that summer feeling slip by. Channel your inner farmer and hit up the Fishkill Farms in Hopewell Junction for their Peachtopia. This “pick your own” event will have a New Orleans theme and ample opportunities to pick peaches, nectarines, organic vegetables, herbs and flowers. The event will also have wagon rides, many kid’s activities and live music courtesy of the Tin Pan Band. Admission is $5 and kids under the age of 12 are free.
2. “Try It”
Location: Hudson River Air Dogs 1091 County route 10, Hudson
Happening: Saturday, August 12, 9 AM – 2 PM
Are you a fan of those dock dogs that attend the Dutchess County Fair every year? Maybe you look at your four-legged friend and think yours could do it too. If so, then you have to check out this truly unique event happening this Saturday with the Hudson River Air Dogs. Yes, that is right the Hudson River Air Dogs are opening up their facility and allowing you to work with their experienced handlers to let your dog try their skills in the pool. There are two sessions one running from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then 11:30 pm to 1:30pm. Each session is $25 and there’s a limit of eight dogs per session. 3. 11th Annual Rust Riot
Location: Whortlekill Rod And Gun Club 540 Route 376, Hopewell Junction
Happening: Sunday, August 13, 11 AM – 5 PM
It’s back for another year. Yep, that’s right the 11th annual Rust Riot is going down Sunday August 13th. Come take a glance at the past and enjoy some of these old school automobiles. This one-of-a-kind car show is taking place in the Hudson Valley is starting at 11 a.m. and cost $10 for admission. There’ll be live music kicking off at noon too.
4. Artists on the Street
Location: Historic Huguenot Street 81 Huguenot Street, New Paltz
Happening: Saturday, August 12, 11 AM – 5 P
Take the whole day and get a look at the local talent that the Hudson Valley has to offer when it comes to awesome art with Artists On the Street. This all-day event will have almost 20 renowned local artist displaying their work to the public. This event will not only have local artist but also local magicians along with plenty of kid friendly activities. This annual event is free and open to the public.
5. Mix At The Movies: Annabelle: Creation & The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature
Opening at the box office this weekend is Annabelle: Creation. The film is the prequel to 2014’s Annabelle and is the fourth film in The Conjuring film series. The film tells the origin of the possessed Annabelle doll. Also, out this weekend is The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, which is a 3D computer animated comedy and is the sequel to 2014’s The Nut Job. This time around, Surly and his friends must stop a local mayor from destroying their homes in order to build an amusement park. The film stars the voice of Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, Jackie Chan, Katherine Heigl, Bobby Moynihan and Jeff Dunham.
