It's Mother's day weekend and whether you want to spend it with mom or not we got you covered. We have split this week's MIX picks for those who love mom and those who would love some space from mom. Whether you want to stay in town or travel for some fun, Mix has it done.
1. Mimosas and Mother's Day
Location: Robibero Family Vineyards 714 Albany Post Rd, New Paltz
Happening: Sunday May 14th from 11am to 6pm
Drink for free with your mom and feel free to bring the family dog because Robibero Winery is celebrating Mother's Day. Every mom will receive one free complimentary Mimosa, with additional mimosas available for purchase along with wine tasting. The event is family-friendly and pet friendly with live music between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m. Also, feel free to bring blankets and chairs as tables are on a first-come first-serve basis, but no outside beverages are allowed to this amazingly free and sure to be fun event.
2. Make Her Day Art Event
Location: Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park 61 Parker Ave, Poughkeepsie
Happening: Saturday May 13th from 11am to 4pm
Take your relationship with Mom to new heights. The Walkway Over the Hudson in collaboration with the Hudson Valley Art Market will be hosting a "Make Her Day Art Event. Check out this first time event that allows you to stroll and sample some of the best the Hudson Valley has to offer. Enjoy local artists' creations, freshly-made crepes and cupcakes as well as portraits made on the spot, oh and you even have a chance to make your own Mother's Day gift in this truly one of a kind local event.
3. “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” in Concert
Location: David Geffen Hall, 10 Lincoln Ctr, New York, New York
Are you a big movie buff? Then head to the city for a one-of-a-kind experience. Lincoln Center is hosting "ET the extra terrestrial" live in concert. The New York Philharmonic will perform John Williams's original score while the iconic film is projected on a giant screen.
4. All-Star Comedy Night
Location: Quinnz Pinz 13-19 Railroad Ave, Middletown
Happening: Friday May 12th starts at 8pm
Feeling stressed out from spending too much time with your family this Mother's Day weekend? Then take a break for some laughter. Quinnz Pinz is hosting a night of All-Star Comedy with Brad Lowery from Comedy Central and more. Seating is limited so make sure to get your reservations in and tickets are $15.
5. Mix at the Movies: Snatched & King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
Goldie Hawn returns to the big screen this weekend. She teams up with the one and only Amy Schumer for their mother and daughter traumatic travel comedy called Snatched. The timing of this film couldn't be more perfect than Mother's Day as the film is not only funny but is touching as it highlights the struggles that exist between mothers and daughters. On the other hand, also hitting movie theaters this weekend is Guy Ritchie's re-imagining of the King Arthur story. In King Arthur: legend of the Sword, Charlie Hunnam stars as the title character along with Jude Law, Eric Bana and the one-and-only David Beckham, making his acting debut.
