Paula Abdul, who we've not heard from in quite a while, has launched a lawsuit against a Los Angeles tanning salon after she was burned while receiving one of its services. Yikes.

Not to make light of the situation, but tanning beds are a bad idea all around, no?

TMZ reports that the former 'American Idol' and 'X Factor' judge visited UVASUN in 2012. She purchased the SlimStar infrared body wrap, which can treat cellulite, and then used a tanning bed.

She claims that she suffered body burns and "especially severe second or third degree burn on a portion of [her] left thigh."

Ouch! That sounds pretty painful and scary, since burns can often lead to scars. Not good. The singer and dancer is suing for unspecified damages.

And we thought Tan Mom was reason enough to avoid tanning salons…
