We are fortunate to have lots of great riverfront parks in the Mid Hudson Valley and you really can't go wrong at any of them, but there is one that is becoming a runaway favorite.

Quiet Cove Riverfront Park in the Town of Poughkeepsie is one of the best parks on the Hudson. It was kind of a secret getaway for some of us about 2 years ago, but this beautiful spot is drawing tens of thousands every year.

This park used to be part of the Hudson River Psychiatric Center and according to the Dutchess County website, the park is owned by New York State, even though the county maintains it and will continue to make improvements.

The County has recently implemented renovations to the park including a newly renovated shoreline and waterfront observation deck overlooking the Hudson River. Handicapped accessible restrooms and ramps are available Other improvements to Quiet Cove include a boat launch area for canoes and kayaks.

This is such a peaceful spot on the river. I love sitting on the porch that overlooks the water. There's also a really great deck that hangs over the river and always has a few comfortable Adirondack chairs to help you relax and enjoy to view. The county is going to continue with more improvements which will take this park to a new level.

Quiet Cover Riverfront Park is one of Dutchess County's premiere picnic spots. It has a number of picnic tables and charcoal grills Gaining popularity by the day, I hope that Quiet Cove Park can always remain just what it is - a quiet and peaceful place to get away from the hectic pace of life in the valley.
