The 2017 Special Olympic Winter Games are coming to the Mid Hudson Valley in about a week and our snowstorm arrived just in time.

This is the second year that the Games will be held here and if you remember last winter was a mild one. The 2016 Games still were a huge success, but we could have used more snow. I took a trip to Bowdoin Park yesterday to show you where some of the events will be taking place. It was 55 degrees when we shot this video.

Bowdoin Park and the rest of the Mid Hudson Valley are covered with at least a foot of new snow. The 10 day forecast is calling for colder temperatures with just a bit of rain and snow - so there should be plenty on the ground when the Special Olympians come to Bowdoin Park for the Cross County ski event.

Opening ceremonies for the 2017 Special Olympic Winter Games will be February 17th at the Mid Hudson Civic Center. The sporting events like:Ice Skating, Floor hockey, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and more will take place on the 18th. Come out and be a "fan in the stands" and show support for the Special Olympians as they compete in our beautiful valley.
