Tennis Would Be More Popular if Not for the Grunting
The U.S. Open Tennis Tournament is happening in New York this week. It is one of the largest attended sporting events in the world. It is estimated that over 721,000 people will have gone to the event by the time it wraps up this weekend.
I love going to the Open because you can only appreciate how great these players are by seeing them in person. On television you don't get to see how fast the ball is really going or how much spin they put on it. Pro tennis players are so much stronger than they appear on TV.
The major turn off for many people is all the grunting tennis players do. What's up with the grunting?
Maria Sharipova is one of the loudest of today's grunting tennis stars. It's comical.
I liked it better when dudes like John McEnroe would just yell at the umpires.
