Join Mix 97.7, Saturday October 14 as we help Family Services, Walk -A-Mile in Her Shoes.  This special event, helps to raise awareness and funds to eliminate sexual assault, domestic abuse and gender violence.

Let’s take a look at the statistics.  One out of four girls and one out of six boys will be victims of sexual assault before they turn eighteen.  Every nine seconds in the United States, the woman is beaten or assaulted.  According to Family Services, community people you know, family members you love and neighbors you care about could be victims of sexual assault and or domestic violence.

Walk-A-Mile in her shoes, the International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence.   According to the Family Services, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it gets the community to talk about something that's really difficult to talk about: rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, and gender violence.”

A ton of men march with heels.  You don’t need heels and you don’t need to be a man.  Woman and families participate in this event too.  Besides the walk that day, there are tons of fun things for the kids to do at Allsport Fishkill.  Mark Bolger and Mix 97.7 will be hand that day.  Sign up begins at 9am, walk begins at 10am.
