When You Burn Dinner in the Crock Pot…
If there is one way I love to make food, it’s in the crock pot. I made Mississippi Pot Roast because it’s one of the easiest and tastiest meals you will ever have. There was just one problem.
Mississippi Pot Roast is such an easy meal there is no way to screw it up, but I found a way. According to Delish, this recipe has been around for a long time, but in the past few years it has gone viral.

I will give you the recipe that I used in just a minute, but first let me tell you how I messed it up. I made the roast a couple of days ago and put it in the fridge to save for when my girls were coming over for dinner. I sampled it after I made it and it was one of the best tasting meals I have ever had! My mistake was in the re-heating of it. I put the crock pot back on before I left for work and set it for 10 hours. Not a good idea.

So once you cook it, don’t do a slow re-heat for hours in the crock pot. If you leave it unattended, you will have charcoal for dinner. I found out there are lots of ways to screw up crock pot cooking. Live and learn – right? Anyway, here is the simple recipe that tastes amazing.
Use 1 four pound chuck roast, a half a stick of butter, one packet of onion soup mix, one packet of ranch dressing mix and about 10 pepperoncini peppers in vinegar. You will find them in the Italian food section of your grocery store.
Pan sear the meat quickly using some hot oil in a frying pan. Put the meat into the crock pot and spinkle it with the ranch dressing mix and onion soup mix. Put the half stick of butter on top of the meat and then put the peppers on top of and around the meat. Set the slow cooker for 8 hours and just let it do its thing.
When it’s done, you should be able to put it apart with a couple of forks. There will probably be some fatty pieces that you can just discard. You can serve it with mashed potatoes and veggies or make pulled pot roast sandwiches with it. This is a great meal to make for a larger group or save the leftovers. Just don’t re-heat it for hours in the crockpot.
